The Advocate’s media consultants team placed second in the Sales Team of the Year Award, a massive achievement given there are over 170 mastheads vying for the honour.
It was the second consecutive year the team has enjoyed success at the awards - in 2015, they won the Sales Team of the Year.
Western Advocate senior media consultant Martin Russell said the team was stoked with the result.
“We’ve got a really great culture here, we collaborate and support each other,” he said.
Monika Malcolm, who also works in sales at the paper, was placed third in the Rising Star category which recognises success and outstanding aptitude in staff who have recently joined Fairfax.
There were 25 nominations put forward for the category, with Ms Malcolm delighted to be a finalist.
“I was really surprised. I knew I had been nominated but I didn’t expect to make the top three. I am really excited,” she said.
Ms Malcolm joined the Western Advocate eight months ago after graduating from CSU Bathurst and said she “absolutely loves” her job.
More than 300 staff from all over Australia and New Zealand attended the awards ceremony and sales conference at the National Convention Centre in Canberra.
