Group 10 met with Dubbo CYMS on Wednesday night and were impressed with the Fishies’ proposal to change competitions, the Group 11 club determined to make the switch official in time for the 2017 season.
But CRL chief executive officer Terry Quinn said on Monday he’d back Group 11 and the Western Rams’ decision to keep the status quo.
The CRL boss highlighted a February meeting for the region as a watershed moment for change in the Western area.
Zamparini agreed, adding an alteration to the make-up of the area could revitalise rugby league.
“I think a revamp is inevitable,” he said, having been president and now chairman for the last decade.
“But we have to look at what’s best for all clubs, particularly those in smaller towns, they need their footy. Your Oberons, Nyngans, Narromines and the like.”
