Arabian Gulf League club Baniyas attempted to sign Burns and his fellow Australian representatives Robbie Kruse and Matthew Spiranovic, but all three turned down the offer.
The World Game reported that Baniyas, who play out of Abu Dhabi, were hoping to attract the trio as it fights to avoid relegation.
Burns currently plays his club football in the J-League competition for Tokyo FC, having made the move in July, 2015.
Though Burns, a former winner of the Johnny Warren Medal for the best player in the A-League, has struggled to be a consistent member of Tokyo’s starting line-up, he is keen to remain with them.
Last month Burns had a contract extension which will keep him at the club until the middle of 2017.
He will no doubt be hoping to improve on his record of one goal from 16 appearances this season.
