Esperance police officers stopped the 38-year-old man on December 27 at 8:15pm on Nugent Street in Castletown.
The man allegedly exceeded 0.05% in a roadside breath test and was issued a $400 fine and lost 10 demerit points.
Esperance Police Senior Sergeant Richard Moore said officers were bewildered by the man’s explanation that he was “just going to get chicken nuggets”.
“It’s amazing how some people don’t head the continuous warnings about road safety and speed and drink alcohol and drive on Esperance roads,” Snr Sgt Moore said.
