It was a disappointing day for Mark Renshaw and his Dimension Data teammates in the final stage at the Dubai Tour.
Mark Cavendish’s gears jumped in the final metres of the sprint, as he finished fourth.
“My gears wouldn’t stay into the 11 (sprocket) going from the 12,” Cavendish said.
“I thought I had it perfect but when I went to kick, it flicked my back wheel up. It seems that there’s something every day.”
“I felt brilliant today. The team were brilliant today too.
“For us the finish line was at 1.5km to go. If we had anybody there for us it was an extra and [Reinardt Janse van] Resnburg and Mark Renshaw were there.”
Marcel Kittel won the stage and the tour overall.
