That was Bathurst Goldminers coach Andrew Osborn’s take on Saturday’s 82-77 loss away to Moss Vale Magic, the first defeat for his men this Youth League men’s division two season.
Five Goldminers and four Magic players were fouled out of the contest.
“There were 73 fouls. The referees had no control over the game, and that was from the tip-off,” Osborn said.
“In the last minute we were only down by four, but only had three players on the court, and you can’t win a basketball game with that many. Neither team was able to get any rhythm all game.
“I’ve coached for 50 years and had never seen a game with that many fouls.”
Despite the high foul count on both sides, Osborn said his team had their chances to get the win.
“We were unsettled from the word go and struggled to get ourselves into the game,” he said.
Matt Gray top scored for the Goldminers with 41. Majok Deng was next best for Bathurst with 17 points.
