With the help of family, friends, volunteers and staff residents are busily packing boxes and preparing to saying farewell to their Bubsy Street home.
Stage one of the new Bathurst development saw the merging of Catholic Healthcare’s St Vincent’s Residential Aged Care, St Catherine’s Aged Care and Catholic Community Services.
Now, after 50 years at Busby Street Bathurst, St Catherine’s Aged Care will join Catholic Community Services, who have spent six years at Rankin Street, in relocating to Gormans Hill Road.
“At the heart of this development is Catholic Healthcare’s commitment to build a residential service that is as ‘home-like’ as possible, with a cafe, hair salon, a number of dining and living areas, and a Health and Wellness Centre. There will also be a dementia wing with safe and secure outdoor walking areas and courtyards,” Residential Care General Manager, Anne Maree Hodgson said.
Once all stages of construction are completed mid year, the new integrated campus will include a 130 room residential aged care service, home and community care, together with local healthcare services.
“Our residents (and staff) are excited about the move and very much looking forward to calling the new St Catherine’s, on Gormans Hill Road home,” concluded Ms Hodgson.
Residential Manager at ST Catherine’s Liz Zachulski, said despite the logistics of the move everyone was excited.
“It’s a happy exciting time, the new location is beautifully fitted out.
“We can’t wait to get into the new premises,” she said.
Among the upgraded facilities at the new location include en-suits in every resident’s room.
