Walkie Talkie ($1.90) emerged clear of some early bumps from other contenders to win by one and a quarter lengths from Jamie Cargo ($11.90).
The Ronald Seymour-trained Walkie Talkie has made a promising start to his career with three wins from five starts.
Seymour’s Collision x Giama Pak dog didn’t get the strongest of starts from box two and had to fight to get control of the race in the opening 100 metres.
Inside and outside starters, Crumps Lil Angel and Jamie Cargo respectively, threatened to challenge Walkie Talkie for the lead on the first turn.
However, on the back straight Walkie Talkie kicked clear of his challengers.
Jamie Cargo made Walkie Talkie earn the victory with a late fightback.
Walkie Talkie won in a time of 25.94 seconds.
“He’s just a bush dog but it won’t be long before I test him somewhere else,” Seymour said.
“I was worried for a moment there. He missed the jump today but he got a beautiful run through. I thought he’d get a run there because he doesn’t leave the fence.”
