Guiding $15.10 outsider Callmequeenbee in an Australian Pacing Gold Two Year Old Filles Heat (1,609 metres), Rue had spent a bulk of the trip sitting in the trail after being crossed early.
With some 250 metres to go Rue made his move, guiding Callmequeenbee into a space between the two runners who were expected to fight it out for the win – Prophesy ($2.30) and Arts Treasure ($1.80 favourite).
Once she had a clear passage, Rue’s Shadow Play x Queen Of Courage filly ran away from her rivals, getting home in a 27.6 seconds split to win in a career best 1:54.7 mile rate.
She beat home Prophesy by 2.9m for her second win from five starts, while the favourite was a further metre back in third. The $30,000 semi-finals will be conducted at Melton on April 28.
