Melissa Johnson developed the event four years ago, feeling there wasn’t enough awareness around about brain cancer.
Ms Johnson was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2000 and it has been a tough journey.
Each year she holds a fundraising dinner to help generate money for two charities, Brain Tumour Alliance Australia and Brainstorm at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
This year’s dinner will be held on May 27 at Rydges Mount Panorama.
Tickets cost $70 and include a two-course meal and entertainment from violinist Niamh Ann.
There will be raffles and auctions on the night.
Mel’s Go Grey in May has raised around $30,000 since its inception.
“It is about $10,000 a year and it gets split down the middle to both charities,” Ms Johnson said.
To purchase tickets, visit Mel’s Go Grey in May on Facebook.
Ms Johnson also encourages brain cancer suffers to join a new support group.
The support group is based at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse in Sydney and patients can visit Bathurst’s Daffodil Cottage on the first Friday of each month to link up with the support group.
