The highly-anticipated second circuit would allow for both car and motorbike races to take place.
Council’s expression of interest (EOI), which was announced on April 1, called for companies that were interested in designing the track, not actual designs.
It called for submissions from “suitably qualified and experienced companies for the design of a motor racing circuit located at Mount Panorama”.
At the time, mayor Graeme Hanger said: “What council’s asked for is people who’ve the capacity and the capability of designing the second track”.
The split was three domestic, two international.

EOIs closed earlier this month, and he has since confirmed that five were received.
“The split was three domestic, two international,” cr Hanger said. “The expressions of interest are being assessed with the aim of creating a shortlist of up to three firms who may then be invited to tender for the design of the second circuit.”
The new circuit will be located to the western side of McPhillamy and Reid parks, and below the ridge where the existing clay target club is located.
