But now the McCarthys are using For A Reason to help Bathurst district trainers and drivers find their own success.
Bathurst native Luke and his wife Belinda have set up Cobbitty Equine Farm, where former Shirley Turnbulll Memorial winners Bling It On (2015) and For A Reason (2014) are standing.
For A Reason has sired 33 foals of which 10 are winners and of those, two have been part of Group successes for Bathurst district trainers.
Steve Turnbull’s Conviction, a 2016 Group 1 Breeders Challenge victor, and Bernie Hewitt’s Taylors Reason, who enjoyed Group 2 success on Saturday at Menangle, are both sired by For A Reason.
During his 64-start career, For A Reason earned more than a million dollars in stakes and posted three Group 1 victories.
