The friend was a 50-pack-a-day smoker, and as of Tuesday, has officially been a non-smoker for three months and 17 hours.
She said she’s never felt better, and if she can do it, anyone can.
She’s downloaded an app to help her keep focused and on Tuesday the statistics it came out with were literally jaw dropping.
Since giving up smoking the friend has saved over $3962!!!
Had she not given up in the last three months she would have smoked a staggering 4403 cigarettes.
The friend says giving up is the best thing she’s ever done.
She said she never thought she would give up smoking.
“I swore I’d give up when cigarettes hit $20 a packet, and that was years ago. A pack of 50 cigarettes is $46 now,” she said.
“I feel so much better, I breathe better and I don’t wheeze, everything tastes and smells so different.”
“I can walk the block without feeling like I’m going to pass out.”
When the cold weather arrived recently she went to put on a jumper she had in the cupboard and had to wash it, because she could still smell smoke on it.
She said she can no longer be near anyone who is smoking.
“It literally makes me feel sick,” she said.
We can’t wait til she makes the next milestone, and will keep you posted on her efforts.
Farewell to the Winter Festival
Parade has been spoiled… for the last few weeks she has enjoyed looking up over her computer desk to see the giant Ferris Wheel, ice rink and carousel lighting up Russell Street.
So it’s a little bit sad to see the Ferris Wheel being taken down and the structure over what was the ice rink being dismantled over the past couple of days.
The city was certainly very lucky to have such a fantastic event, and well done to council for organising it.
Parade can’t wait for next year when the festival rolls round again, and the streetscape is so majestic.
