During the Bathurst 12 Hour in February, Bathurst 6 Hour in April and Bathurst 1000 in October, the signage around Mount Panorama is often taken up by sponsor advertising.
However, between April and October, the signage is left blank.
Cr Aubin said it is a wasted opportunity when Mount Panorama sees 6000 vehicle movements per week.
He has called for Bathurst Regional Council to make use of the vacant space across the mountain to advertise local events to tourists.
“The reason for advertising is to make it more colourful and vibrant,” Cr Aubin said.
“It is obvious that a lot of people would see signs up there and it is mostly visitors, not residents, who drive around the mount.”
He said overhead signage would cost around $2000, but it would be worth it.
“I think that is a pretty good investment for six months of advertising,” he said.
