The August monthly medal was the showpiece of the golfing week and it was Paul Strik’s turn to shine after his 68 nett gained him the B grade title and also the prestigious ‘cock of the course’, hot on his heels were Paul Oxley (69) and John Payne (70) while the scratch went to Dennis Lowe with 85 off the stick. Adam Powell has continued his strong form line of late to post 69 nett and the A grade victory from Ron Bender (70) and Mitch Colling (71), visitor Michael Curtail made his trip worthwhile as his 75 picked up the scratch.

Tim Leahy was unlucky to be counted out for the cock of the course, but he didn’t come away empty handed as his 68 nett was good enough to beat Jim Schumacher for the C grade chocolates, the spritely Neil Cole rounded out third on 69 nett and the scratch has gone the way of Geoff Arrow with 91.
Danny Ross in Thursday’s individual Stableford returned a brilliant 47 points to decimate the A grade field of Darryn Bruce (39) and Lance Williams (38), three over par was enough for Darrell Bourke to win the scratch. A count-back was needed to separate the B grade Jim Smail and Andre Schuster after both had 40 points, in the end Smail gained the judges nod in a close photo. Cameron Bull took the proverbial by the horns to wrangle third on 39 points and the scratch is now in the safe hands of Joe Heness with 22 points.
The 2BBB aggregate was a forgone conclusion after Al Edwards offered a great deal of moral support to Ross to return 81 points for a five shot margin over Schuster and Scott Maher. Bruce and Bourke combined to win the scratch on 70 points.
