The Office of Environment and Heritage has awarded $20,000 to Bathurst Regional Council under the Heritage Near Me program to develop a full interpretation strategy for the landmark.
Content for the signage has been drafted, focused on explaining the importance and design of each memorial in Kings Parade, encompassing both European and Aboriginal histories.
Council staff are exploring a number of options for the location of the signage, including next to existing seating at the Evans Memorial end; replicating the stone bubbler structure near the Carillon on the northern side of the Carillon; and replacing panels of the existing bus shelter on Russell Street.
A report to councillors states the bus shelter is the preferred option at this stage.
A suite of brochures to accompany the interpretive signage will also be produced.
