A CROWD gathered recently to see an interpretive sign featuring the story of Bathurst sporting identity Ron “Leary” Learmonth erected at the entrance to Learmonth Park.

Mr Learmonth was a much-loved teacher, sportsmaster and sports coach at Bathurst High School from 1943-65, coaching numerous rugby league teams, athletics teams, and boys’ and girls’ cricket teams.
The sign was unveiled by Mr Leary’s children Marg Allen, of Springwood, and Rob Learmonth, of Nunderi, near Murwillumbah.
