Popularly-elected mayor: I believe the residents should be allowed to have a say as to whether they want a Popularly elected Mayor or Not, BUT if the referendum is too greater a cost impost compared to asking the same question at a Local Government Election I would defer the question till then.
Water sale: I have never supported the sale of our Water BUT in saying that, any person, organisation and or mine operator has the right to ask the question of Council. We are then obliged to consider any application put before council as we do with any request to use, buy, lease etc council controlled resources.
Roundabout: Yes I am a 100% supporter of the Mitre, Suttor, Lambert street roundabout. In the motion we moved in the June Budget council meeting about the roundabout, we stated that we would fund it in the 2017/18 financial year. I have also had discussions with both the GM of council and the Director of Engineering as to how we would fund it.
Australia Day: I Do No support a change to the current date. We must always acknowledge and respect our Past and more importantly learn from our past, respect and develop our Present and finally establish a sustainable Future.
TAFE building: The Tafe building is a very important part of Bathurst heritage landscape, that i strongly believe can be restored whereby both the community and the private sector can be proud of. The public consultation work that has already been completed is a sound base to continue working with the community as a whole for the Right Outcome.
Rates cap: I don't want to see council rates increased. So, with this in mind and council costs going up at a greater rate than what we generate from rates, we need to continue seeking and improving current funding sources. Council needs to continues being a property developer and raising much needed funds. This combined with becoming a bigger player in Tourism in the following areas such as Heritage, Sports and Disability tourism we can hold rates at the IPART rate cap figure.
Christmas decorations: YES and also establish a Christmas Festival event over at least a week near Christmas during the school holidays. It would also be good that if council did this, that our business community would embrace it and get involved in it.
CCTV: Yes Yes Yes. What value do we put on our residents and visitors alike's safety, the answer to that is, it must be MUCH higher than what we currently do by installing technology to help the Police force solve crime and protect property and people.
Demolition by neglect: No, we don't live in a big brother state so NO. Council by continuing to work with residents, developers and heritage groups can continue to achieve more Win Win outcomes. This more collaborative approach combined with improving and developing new policies and procedures, developers, the community and heritage groups will be better placed and informed moving forward.
Attendance: As a Councillor I have attended the vast majority of Policy, Ordinary, Community Groups and Village meetings.
