Jo, who was raised in O’Connell and Sandra who moved to the area in 2006, have always wanted to be part of the event, and decided this year was the year.
Wearing their rainbow socks, shirts and bandanas, they said they were there to enjoy the day and represent the Yes vote in marriage equality.
The couple already had their rainbow shirts, one of which came from Dublin, got their socks from the markets and their rainbow bandanas from Big W.
As new comers to the jog, the couple said they were planning to walk the event, and said they wanted to enjoy the great weather and community atmosphere.
The couple said they entered the jog as individuals, as there was no partners category.
“The only options were family, husband and wife or individuals, so we went with individuals,” they said.
