QUICK action by NSW Rural Fire Service crews prevented the escalation of a car and bush fire on Sunday.
Crews were called to the Great Western Highway at Meadow Flat just before 12pm on Sunday to respond to a car on fire.
The car was totally engulfed in flames when crews arrived, with a small bush fire burning directly to the north.
Two tankers were used to extinguish the flames, which were out in about five minutes.
Crew captain Stan Kowalski said fire appeared to be the result of a mechanical fault with the car.
“The car was being driven and then it stopped and a fire started under the bonnet,” he said.
No one was injured in the fire.
