Light the Night is a unique event bringing Australia's blood cancer community together all over the country.
This year, the communities from Bathurst, Lithgow and Orange are being invited to join the event to be held in Machattie Park.
Denise Harisson, whose son Luke lost his battle against leukaemia in April, is part of the committee.
Luke saw the Light the Night event in Penrith in 2016 and wanted to do it this year.
Sadly, it wasn’t to be, but Denise, along with Katie Cracknell and Fiona Mundey, have formed a committee to bring the event to Bathurst, in a show of support for anyone with blood cancer.
The event will begin at 5.30pm near the Rotunda in Machattie Park for registration and purchase of lanterns and other related items or donations, with the walk beginning at around 7.30pm, possibly slightly later due to daylight saving, as the lanterns look better in the dark.
Katie said planning for the event is going well and people can register online, or on the night.
