Hold tight for eight seconds. That’s the seemingly simple goal of the daring men who sign up for the bull riding events at the annual Rockley Rodeo.
“It’s only eight seconds, but it feels like a lifetime,” rodeo spokesperson Rhyannah Larnach said.
The crowd will cheer as gates launch around 800 kilograms of pure rage, bucking and thrashing about, into the ring. The courageous rider, pumped with adrenaline, will battle to stay on top for an excruciating eight seconds. It is dangerous, some say foolhardy, and exciting – very, very exciting.
The open and novice bull riding events will be the highlight of a day jam-packed with exhilarating competitions and fun activities to keep all the family entertained.
The 2017 Bowyer and Livermore Rockley Rodeo is on Saturday, October 28, with gates opening at 8am and the main events beginning from 1pm.
The rodeo should be on everyone’s Central West bucket list. If you have not yet been to the day of thrills, spills and cowboy hats then clear your schedule, pack some chairs, water and sunscreen and head to Rockley this Sunday.
“You’ll definitely see people thrown through the air a few times during the day,” Ms Larnach said. “It’s a day of ‘oohs’ and ‘ahs’ and spectacular fun.
“The rodeo is a great chance for people to get away from their screens and technology and see something which is a little different.”
