That’s the aim of one of the brand new attractions added to the Lithgow Halloween festival line-up in 2017.
Lachlan Valley Railway will be running a commuter service from Bathurst for the October 28 festival, taking in the spectacular scenery around Rydal and Tarana on the way. It leaves Bathurst at 2.30pm.
“As a tie-in with the event there will be a spooky ghost train ride through the ten tunnels to Mount Vic,” Lachlan Valley Railway secretary treasurer John Healey said.

Volunteers have been hard at work decorating the train, creating an atmosphere fit for its special Halloween run.
The train, a CPH rail motor known as a Tin Hare, was introduced in the 1920’s and serviced the branch lines around the Central West until as late as the 1980’s.
They have since been retired from the railway and now undertake special tourist journeys around the region. Most recently, it delivered the guests for the Thomas Mort Centenary picnic.
The ten tunnels journey will leave at 4.30pm from Lithgow and take about one-and-a-half hours, delivering people back in time for the festival fun at 6.10pm.
The return trip to Bathurst will leave Lithgow at 9pm.
