Upper Macquarie County Council is the local control authority for weeds in the Bathurst, Blayney, Lithgow and Oberon councils.
Cr North said he is looking forward to working with the other councillors over the next 12 months, with the support of deputy chairman Cr David Kingham, who is from Blayney.
“While I do not have rural land, I am passionate and hardworking and have a strong understanding to what makes the region and its residents tick,” he said.
“I love the region and to do the best for the people, so I want to see Upper Macquarie County Council operate in a sustainable manner and to ensure positive outcomes for local landholders in controlling weeds.”
He said there would be some tough decisions ahead for the council’s future, but it was important for it to improve its profile so it was more recognisable to constituents.
