St Pat’s put their undefeated record on the line when they take on Colts in their Bathurst District Cricket Association first grade game at Loco Oval.
For the hosts, this match is a chance to level their win-loss record – and they’ll have a full strength side for the challenge.
Colts will need to utilise every ball if they’re to hand the Saints their first loss of the year.
Captain for Colts, Matt Stephen, knows what priority number one is this Saturday.
“Our biggest goal has always been to try and bat out our overs,” he said.
“At the end of the day if we can do that then we give ourselves a far better shot of winning.”
Stephens’ side failed to do that in their opening round loss to Centennials Bulls and they paid the price for it.
In last round’s loss to Bathurst City the Colts managed to see out their 40 overs but couldn’t contain Redbacks with the ball.
An in-form Saints team will be certain to capitalise on any mistakes at the smaller venue.
“They finished last season pretty well and they’ve pretty much started where they left off,” Stephen said of Pat’s.
“They have a few young players who already have plenty of representative experience, like Connor Slattery and Nic Broes.
“Ben Parsons has become a really strong all-rounder. Then you’ve still got some excellent experienced heads like Matt Fearnley and Adam Ryan.”
