The five-year-old Mach Three x Trinity Bromac horse has not saluted since racing at Blayney on November 22, 2015, but there is reason for the Bathurst trainer to hope another win will soon come.
Shazam Shannon has placed third and second in his last two starts, the most of recent of which saw him get home in a handy 28.2 seconds at Parkes.
He has shown gate speed in most of his starts this season and with a barrier one draw in Sunday’s Squires Signs Pace Heat (2,000 metres), Shazam Shannon will get the chance to use it to his advantage.
If he manages to win or rank amongst the leading finishers, he will earn a place in the $8,000 final to be held at Blayney’s November 19 Carnival of Cups meeting.
Regular driver Mckayler Barnes will be in the gig.
