Did you know that more than 20 per cent of Bathurst’s population reported doing some form of voluntary work in 2016? That is an amazing amount of good being done right here in our local community!
The Neighbourhood Centre can help people match their skills, interests and availability to the diversity of volunteering opportunities in the region.
Among the many services that the Centre provides to support and strengthen the community is Volunteering Bathurst, a recruitment and referral service.
The Neighbourhood Centre would like to acknowledge and thank the many diverse volunteers who share their talents and hearts with the Bathurst community. A big thank you to the 116 volunteers engaged in the different programs of the Neighbourhood Centre. All your contributions are much appreciated and valued.
Never underestimate the impact you can have on someone else.
- Nalinda, volunteer at The Neighbourhood Centre
Special recognition is given to the Community Visitors Scheme which is celebrating 25 years of service, and the Eisteddfod Catering which concludes this year after 14 years of service (and has generously donated funds to worthy local causes and services over this time). A massive thank you!

One of the centre’s volunteers is Nalinda who, after arriving in Bathurst and Australia three months ago, finds volunteering a great way in which to get to know the local community.
Nalinda’s warmth and aptitude saw him excel as a Technology Tutor and on reception, and he has now secured employment.
“When you see the happiness on someone else’s face, it makes you feel so good,” Nalinda said when asked what was the greatest benefit of volunteering.
His advice for those thinking about volunteering? “Don’t hesitate, and never underestimate the impact you can have on someone else,” he said.
