Held each year, Movember encourages men to grow a mo for a month to raise funds and awareness for men’s health and suicide prevention.
Principal Darren Denmead and teachers Ben Mann and Josh Alexander all took part and in the process raised $1990.
On Friday, in front of a packed hall full of students and teachers, Mr Denmead and Mr Mann had their moustaches shaved off.
While Mr Alexander, who had a full beard a month ago, had been bit-by-bit shaving it off to leave a moustache for Friday’s shave-off.
Students sat down in the hall, many wearing fake moustaches, cheering and chanting as the shaving was undertaken by staff from Allegro Style Cutting.
“It was a huge success,” Mr Denmead said.
He said not only was Movember about raising money, but it helped raise awareness about men’s mental health among the school’s students.
“Boys need help and this is about raising awareness and I think they had fun,” Mr Denmead said.
Donations to the trio’s team, called the Bathurst West Warriors, can still be made by visiting their online fundraising page.
