Officers attached to the Darling River Highway Patrol detected a speeding grey Jeep at Guyong about 10.15am on Tuesday.
The Jeep, which was displaying red P-plates when spotted by police, was clocked at 153km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Police stopped the vehicle and the driver produced a P1 licence for officers, which restricts him to a maximum speed of 90km/h.
The driver’s licence was immediately suspended for six months and the registration plates on the man’s vehicle were confiscated for three months.
The P-plater told police he was speeding because he was late for work.
