The Unflinching Gaze: Photo media and the male figure drew a total of 3000 people to see how men have been depicted in photo media over 140 years.
Bathurst Regional Art Gallery director and curator for the exhibition, Richard Perram, said the display was not only for the LGBTIQ community, but for everyone.
He said many people were touched by the exhibition.
“A visitor from outside of Bathurst was brought to tears after finding an exhibition which supported him and his life,” Mr Perram said.
More than 200 people who attended the exhibition were surveyed and approximately 65 per cent of them were from outside the Bathurst region, with most travelling from Sydney.
Unflinching Gaze also attracted favourable reviews from The Sydney Morning Herald and The Guardian, which is “quite unheard of” for a regional exhibition, Mr Perram said.
Montages: The Full Cut, which will display films by artist Tracey Moffatt and Gary Hillberg, will open at BRAG this Friday.
