June 2: Brilliant Street was turned into a winter wonderland thanks to Roland Zopf and his home-made snow gun. Mr Zopf created a 15-centimetre-thick covering of snow after waiting for the right early morning conditions.

June 5: Police released CCTV images following an early-morning break and enter in Kelso in late May. Officers were hoping to speak to the woman and man shown in the footage in relation to a break-in at a home in Sapphire Crescent when a number of items, including a Holden Colorado utility, were taken.
June 5: Kent McNab, who had been campaigning for Bathurst Regional Council to install a roundabout at the intersection of Lambert and Suttor streets, said he had increased his home security since finding a severed animal’s foot near the front door of his home. Mr McNab said he believed the delivery was related to his stance on the intersection.
June 5: A white van left overnight at an informal used car lot on Hereford Street was defaced by vandals. Green paint was splattered across the van that had been left by the roadside with a For Sale sign in the front window.
June 7: A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged after making threats to harm Centrelink staff. Bathurst police were called to the office on Russell Street where they quickly contained the scene.
June 8: An injured koala was rescued from a tree in The Lagoon, but later had to be euthanased. WIRES Central West volunteers co-ordinated the rescue with help from an Essential Energy crew, arborist Oliver Shoemark and a cherrypicker.
June 13: There were no serious injuries after a Holden Astra crashed into a house on the corner of Lambert and Peel streets. An elderly lady was in the house, but was not hurt.
June 13: Bathurst Regional Council said a dog involved in a vicious attack on five sheep at Walang had been put down. “Council has investigated the matter. The attacking dog was identified and the owner has voluntarily euthanased the dog,” a council spokeswoman said.
June 15: Police were searching for the driver of a white utility who left the scene of an accident at the intersection of George and Durham streets. The accident occurred when the driver of the single cab Toyota utility turned left from Durham Street into George Street. The ute collided with a 73-year-old Bathurst man who was walking across the pedestrian crossing.
June 17: A 44-year-old man died in a light plane crash in bushland north of Bathurst. Police confirmed the plane’s wreckage had been found following an extensive ground and air search. The plane had left an airfield at Upper Turon, but did not return as scheduled.
June 22: Peak-hour traffic along Durham Street slowed to a crawl following a three-car crash near the John Matthews Tennis Centre. “A car has come to a stop to turn right and another car [from behind] hasn’t swung wide enough or hasn’t noticed early enough,” a highway patrol officer said. “The car was pushed out into the path of another car. Three cars were hit and two had to be towed.”
June 23: A beautifully restored 1912 La Buire French motor car was one of the big-ticket items for an extraordinary clearing sale at Peel. Dr Peter Burgess was selling off much of his private collection of old vehicles, steam engines and farm equipment to help fund his latest restoration project. Dr Burgess, who arrived in Bathurst as the city’s first orthopaedic surgeon in 1974, had turned his attention to restoring historic buildings in the main street of Sofala.
June 23: A jelly wrestling competition organised for the Elephant and Castle Hotel to raise money for mental health charity Beyond Blue caused controversy. A Beyond Blue spokeswoman said while the event may have been organised “with the very best of intentions”, it should not have been approved. The event organiser said you needed to draw a crowd to make an impact and “men aren’t going to go to a high tea”.
June 25: A new 48-lot subdivision was to be developed on vacant land at Llanarth under plans before Bathurst Regional Council. The Catholic Diocese of Bathurst had submitted a development application to create the new lots and internal roads on around four hectares of land off the end of Westbourne Drive.
June 26: The Western Advocate was offered a sneak peek at the new JB Hi-Fi store in the Bathurst City Centre. The retailer had received hundreds of applications for just a few dozen jobs.
June 28: Former MacKillop College student Lyndal Tuckey appeared on Channel 7’s First Dates television show. Her date for the night, Harry Brown, said his ideal girl “would be someone who would love to climb a tree, dig holes and grow veggies, and then afterwards we'd probably go catch some lizards and then we'd probably take them for a walk”. Ms Tuckey said she entered the show for the fun of it.
June 30: A 23-year-old P2 provisional licence holder was caught driving 160 kilometres an hour over the speed limit in a school zone. Officers said the driver accelerated through the school zone outside MacKillop College and reached a speed of 200km/h in the signposted 40km/h area.
