Bathurst residents turned out in force for the annual Party in the Park, an event staged by Bathurst Regional Council each New Year's Eve.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said it was great to see so many people arrive at the park early in the afternoon to enjoy the night's entertainment.
"It is fantastic to see so many people here,” he said.
“We are expecting a similar crowd to last year. Last year we had around 10,000 people."
The night featured a range of activities for all ages, including a photo booth, $1 amusement rides for all ages, free Disco Dome with lights and music, free Eliminator, free face painting and mini jeeps.
The soundtrack of the party was supplied by three talented artists, Crimson Royale, Cath Adams and Barabbas.
Cr Hanger said the city was fortunate to have such great musical entertainment on stage for the duration of the event.
"Crimson Royale is the first one and the rest better be pretty good to do better than that," he said.
“Crimson Royale are great and they’re local boys, from Kelso High.”
Party in the Park was capped off with a family fireworks display at 9pm, which was designed and executed by Fireworks Australia.
The company has been part of Bathurst's New Year's Eve celebrations for the last few years.
Residents were promised a "bigger and better, higher and louder" display and were not disappointed.
"The highlight [of the night] was at 9pm with the fantastic fireworks," Cr Hanger said.
