Sarah and Graham Mobbs, who live at Hill End, had a long wait to meet their baby boy, who was due to be born on December 28.
Instead, the adorable little boy hung on until New Year’s Day, making his arrival early at 12.51am.
His parents named him Alex Albert Graham Mobbs, and he weighed seven pounds, eight ounces.
Mrs Mobbs said they weren’t planning on a New Year’s Day baby.
“We weren’t planning for it at all, it just happened when it happened,” she said.
Alex is the couple’s fifth child, joining siblings Chelsea, Emily, Charlotte and Brad.
Mrs Mobbs didn’t have the easiest labour, having to come to Bathurst Base Hospital via ambulance.
While most wouldn’t be happy to be spending their New Year’s Eve in hospital, missing out on all the celebrations, Mrs Mobbs said it wasn’t a big problem because she doesn’t tend to celebrate on New Year’s Eve.
She expects Alex’s birthday will become very memorable.
