From July to November last year, there were 866 parking offences issued in the area, costing motorists $111,492 in fines. 

During the same five-month period in the 2016-17 financial year, there were 834 parking offences. 

The increase of 32 offences has resulted in $6205 in fines. 

For the 2017-18 financial year to date, the biggest month for parking offences was July, where there were 221, an 80 per cent increase on the same month in the previous financial year.

When looking at neighbouring cities, Bathurst’s biggest month for parking offences doesn’t even come close to average figures in Orange. 

Orange’s lowest figure for the financial year was 490 offences, which was recorded during July 2017. 

It’s biggest month was September, when there were 621 offences to the value of $77,102.

Bathurst Regional Council has seen a substantial increase in revenue from parking fines since the 2014-15 following the introduction of the mobile parking enforcement car in March, 2014.

In the financial year that mobile enforcement was introduced, motorists faced a total of $170,462 in fines from 1328 penalty notices.

Of those 1328 penalty notices, 552 of these were recorded from March onward. 

In the 2014-15 financial year, there was $202,254 in fines from 1557 penalty notices.

The 2015-16 financial year had 2155 parking offences, while the 2016-17 financial year concluded with a total of 1830 parking offences.
