She will also pick up a brand new Tanglewood acoustic guitar as her prize and will perform at the festival alongside contest winner Clinton Hoy, from Dubbo.
Tameka came second in the competition after her performance of her own song One.
“We had to write our own song and send a video to the judges. I also received 143 votes. At the end, it was the panel that decided the winners,” she said.
“It was actually better to get second because I really wanted to win the guitar. I also won a six-month mentorship and the chance to perform at Tamworth.
“I also want to thank [fRETfEST director] Alan Buchan for this massive opportunity. I am very thankful that I have this chance to showcase my original songs on one of the main stages.”
Both Tameka and Clinton will perform their own songs alongside other contest finalists in a two-hour showcase concert on the Fanzone Stage.
Tameka began playing guitar in 2013, teaching herself before receiving lessons from Oberon musician and Tamworth Star Maker winner Mickey Pye.
“He’s been a fantastic mentor, giving me tips and advice. He kind of converted me to country music. Before I was playing pop music,” she said.
Tameka, who is in year 12, wants to be a music artist when she leaves school. Her career back-up option is a guitar teacher.
She will perform her own songs at Tamworth, including One, I Need You, I Know You Know, Why and Stay Strong.
