The funding will help the club purchase a MyLaps Timing System which will electronically time riders at local motorcross and long track events.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole delivered the news of the funding to members of the club.
“The Panorama Motorcycle Club is one of those great community organisations that not only support local sport, but also inject funding through their events with visitation to the area,” he said.
“This funding will bring the club’s events to a whole new level with the latest technology in lap timing, which will encourage more events and visitation to the area.”
Panorama Motorcycle Club president Bruce Morgan said the new timing system would take their ability to host events to a new level.
“It means we can bid for bigger and better meets, which means attracting more competitors and their supporters to the Bathurst region,” he said.
“Each rider will have a transponder attached to their bike and from there times can be updated across the circuit in different sections.
“It’s the same type of timing system as used by the V8 Supercars, so we are talking about state-of-the-art technology.”
The CBP is a program which forms a partnership with the NSW Government and community organisations to develop projects which could not proceed without funding support.
The 2017 program has provided $300,000 to support community-based initiatives in the Bathurst electorate.
“I look forward to seeing the new timer system in place and the benefit back to club members and the community,” Mr Toole said.
Mr Toole said community organisations with a project that will benefit the group and the wider community can visit the website www.communitybuildingpartnership.nsw.gov.au to learn more about the program.
Applications for the 2018 program will be called for in mid-2018.
