The club has been going since 2011 and despite being a small club, it punches above its weight.
The club has paddled in Hawaii, Wellington (NZ), Hobart, the Hawkesbury and Kununurra. Members have combined with other teams to win gold at the Australian Masters and nationals.
This year the club is off to paddle the Huon River in Tasmania and Broome.
While some paddlers choose to compete in events, other members just come along to paddle socially and get some exercise.
After a busy day at work, getting out on Chifley Dam to paddle with its gorgeous scenery is a fantastic way to wind down and definitely worth the effort.
Dragon boating is done on Chifley Dam with 10-20 paddlers in a boat.
Anyone over the age of 12 years can paddle. Caitlin Waldron, along with her brother and mother, has been paddling with the club for two years.
“I love dragon boating because it's a different sport to what you can generally do in rural NSW,” she said.
“It gives you the option to either paddle socially or be more competitive, if you choose.”
No experience is necessary, just be prepared to do some exercise and have some fun.
Lynn, who has joined the club recently, said: “It’s without a doubt the best sport I have done.
“You don't have to worry about fitness, it doesn’t take long to get fit once you are paddling regularly.”
