The Bathurst club were informed by Gymnastics NSW that their membership had grown by 101 members in the space of a year, meaning a 43 per cent increase in size.
Aspire coach Sophie Godleman was thrilled to receive the letter from Gymnastics NSW.
“To get a letter congratulating us on gaining over 40 per cent is amazing. It’s really exciting for us to be recognised,” she said.
“I set little goals at first. In 2015 we had about 50 to 60 kids and I wanted to see if we could hit 100. We managed to get there by the end of the year.
“The jump from 150 to 300 happened very quickly … and we’ve steadily grown already this year.
“We now have five new coaches this year and that’s been a massive change for the club. We can cater for more new gymnasts now.”
Another change for the club is the number of members who are going on to compete against the state’s other rising juniors.
It’s really exciting for us to be recognised.

“We had 10 kids taking part in competitions during 2015 and now that number is closer to 80,” Godleman said.
“Previously we had just levels 1 to 2 but now we’re coaching from levels 1 through to 7.”
