Rain, rain – rush to the window
THERE is nothing like a downpour of rain to get people rushing to the windows to look outside.
While Monday afternoon’s storm may have been predicted, Parade is not sure if people were prepared for just how much rain would fall.
While many people in the Western Advocate office headed to the nearest window to watch the torrential rain and hail, it seems others across the city also did the same.
We were literally flooded with photos and videos of the rainfall across the city.
The rains started just after 2.20pm and within three hours 30 millimetres had been recorded in the gauge at Bathurst Airport by the Bureau of Meteorology.
Within 12 hours, a total of 49.2mm had been received.
The long-term average rainfall during March is 55.4mm at Bathurst Airport, so it looks like they city is well on its way to receiving a good drink for our parched gardens and paddocks.
