After hampering his pre-season, the sinus issue has continued to trouble Renshaw since he joined his Dimension Data team for their 2018 campaign.
It saw him abandon the annual Tirreno-Adriatico on stage five, an event which also saw his team-mates Mark Cavendish (fractured rib) and Bernhard Eisel (face, wrist) withdraw after nasty crashes.
“A nice little crash in the first 50 kilometres set the tone for the day and eventually I stopped after the feed zone,” Renshaw said of the fifth stage.
“Looking forward to fixing my chronic sinusitis that’s been bothering me for months now.”
Renshaw is currently being monitored by Dimension Data medical staff, while he will soon see a specialist which he hopes will rectify the issue.
“Mark had a bit of a rough day yesterday; he’s been suffering with chronic sinusitis and has an appointment soon with a specialist to try and offer a long-term solution,” team doctor Jarrad van Zuydam said.
“With his symptoms yesterday he was really quite tired and couldn’t handle the difficulty of the stage, but he’s okay and he’ll be receiving treatment very soon.”
