They love nothing better than firing up the barbecue to cater for the masses and supporting local causes and now, thanks to a grant from the NSW Government, they can do an even better job.

Bathurst MP Paul Toole this week delivered $10,000 to the club from Community Building Partnership (CBP) funding.

“This funding will allow the club to buy a purpose-built, enclosed barbecue trailer so that they can hit the road with everything they need to attend these important community events,” he said.

“As well as the standard barbecue facilities, this trailer will be fitted out with all the safety gear to ensure it is compliant with the necessary requirements for Occupational Health and Safety, ensuring the safety of members and the community.”

Lions Club of Bathurst president David Morris welcomed the grant.

“This trailer has been specifically designed to meet all of our needs. It will have storage space for items like tables, chairs, marquees and two barbecues,” he said.

“It’s far more versatile for us because it means we can do somewhere and set up wherever we want and not be limited to operating directly from the trailer.

“People see the Lions Club at just about every local community event on the calendar. Members love serving the community and we always get a great response from the public for our efforts.”
