She may be a familiar face at the monthly Bathurst Farmers’ Markets, but this year she brought her produce to the Sydney Royal Easter Show to try her luck.

And the trip paid off, with Ms Rigby scoring two firsts (apricot jam and mustard pickles), a second (blackberry jam), a third (marmalade) and a highly commended (tomato relish).

“This is my third or fourth time [at Sydney Royal] but I’ve only received a highly commended and a third place [before this],” she said.

“I just thought I’d give it another go this year.”

Ms Rigby said she was overjoyed at her great results at the highly-competitive Sydney Royal Easter Show.

“It was a real honour actually because I knew how hard these classes are, they can have 50 or 60 entrants in some classes,” she said.

Ms Rigby said she was most proud of her highly commended nod for her tomato relish.

“That’s actually a very hard class, everyone has a recipe for tomato relish,” she said.

“The people who grow their own tomatoes are the ones who win.”

The tomatoes Ms Rigby used in her highly commended relish were from her friend’s farm in Oberon.

“As much as I can I focus on local produce,” she said.

Ms Rigby has been left so inspired by her good results in Sydney that she was now considering entering her jams, pickles and relishes in larger competitions.

“It’s probably my Gold Logie [winning at Sydney Royal], but I’d like to look at some of the national and international awards as well,” she said.

“I’d like to enter the fine food awards.”

Ms Rigby has also had great success with her jams, pickles and relishes at the annual Royal Bathurst Show.

The show is coming up from April 13 to 15 and she has entered a number of items for judging.
