Competing at Cessnock from Wednesday to Saturday last week, the A4DE attracted over 350 endurance riders.
They competed in both rain and warm sunshine, tackling some rough and dusty terrain as they completed a number of motos each day in the battle for glory.
Ben Grabham dominated aboard his 321Motorsport Beta Racing team bike in the Veterans class, winning each of the 21 motos on his way to glory.
His final overall time of two hours, 11 minutes, 3.040 seconds gave him the nod ahead of Damien Smith (2:13.35004) and Greg Stephens (2:21.05935). It also ranked him 18th outright.
“I’ve had a ball and perfect way to cap it off – a final moto win,” he said after crossing the line on Saturday.
“Damo’s kept me pretty honest the whole way, it was good. The heart rate’s definitely not used to that and the lungs definitely aren’t what they used to be, but we had a ball the whole four days.
“Damo made it a bit easy sorta checking out the ground and struggling to get over logs,” Grabham added with a laugh.
An outright winner of the A4DE in 2002 and 2003, Grabham is still enjoying the chance to compete in the event.
“It was fair, honest, hard yakka out there, no-one can complaint about anything. To be honest it’s probably one of the best final moto tracks I’ve rode,” he said.
“It’s just nice to be my age and still come out here and enjoy it.”
Broc Grabham competed in the E3 class on his Gas Gas, ending up third in his category and ninth outright.
On each of the first three days he ranked third in his class and while fourth on Saturday, he’d done enough to secure an E3 podium.
His final overall time was 2:07.39.257 seconds, an effort only bettered by Daniel Milner (2:00.48454) and Lachlan Stanford (2:06.01626).
Broc Grabham’s performances also helped him to ninth outright and glory in the Senior Challenge Trophy alongside fellow NSW riders Josh Green, Brad Hardaker, Scott Keegan, Micheal Driscoll and Stefan Granquist.
The NSW team trailed the Victorians by four minutes after the opening day of competition at Cessnock, but by the end of Thursday had a lead they would not relinquish.
NSW clinched the honours in a time of 12:50.47343, finishing well ahead of Queensland (13:24.50519) and Victoria (17:17.07414).
