Traffic lights at the intersection of Hereford and Gilmour streets are not going to make a scrap of difference to the congestion problem.
Four lanes in Hereford Street won’t work either because most of the traffic comes on to the bottom of George Street and is then stopped at the lights.
At certain times of the day it is nothing unusual to sit through four sets of traffic light changes before you then crawl along the bottom of George Street.
It can take 20 minutes to get from Kelso to Bathurst now.
The only solution is another road into Bathurst.
