Turnbull’s five-year-old mare is up against a red hot field in the Menangle sprint but gets some assistance with an inside draw.
Cherry Mahoney picked up a career best winning mile rate only two starts back, clocking 1:52.7 at the Sydney track. She beat a host of better-backed runners to get the victory.
Starting directly outside Turnbull’s mare will former Gold Tiara winner Dont Think Twice.
The Jason Grimson-trained runner blitzed her trial on Tuesday in a time almost identical to her career best.
Last year’s Group 1 Ladyship Mile champion A Piccadilly Princess (Craig Cross) starts on the outside.
Turnbull’s Sportygal is the race’s second emergency.
The Club Menangle Ranji Bill Stakes starts at Saturday 8.13pm.
