It will be a “virtual sausage sizzle” and it will be held on Thursday to support the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCRF).
Club president Judy Ryan says vegetarians, vegans and dieters will be able to take part without fear of regret, consequences or reprisals.
“It will not make you feel full and it will not add to your calorie count,” she said.
For $2.50, patrons at the virtual sausage sizzle will have their name added to a small picture of a sausage (either male or female) to be collected and taken by the local club to the Lions Australia 2018 National Convention in Townsville in May.
There, the various pictures will be used to build an honour board.
“Lions are known for their sausage sizzles, they are known as the kings of sausage sizzles, and this is a way of keeping up with the 21st century,” Mrs Ryan said.
Sylvia and Alan Hyatt will be manning the virtual sausage sizzle in the Bathurst City Centre, adjacent to Donut King, on Thursday from 10am to 2pm.
The ALCCRF funds research projects and supports the Westmead Children’s Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital, among other facilities.
