One of the Western Advocate’s readers was full of praise for Bathurst firefighters, who helped her ready her home in case of fire.
The firefighters visited her property to change the batteries in her smoke detectors.
The resident kindly offered to pay them for their help, but the firefighters politely declined, just happy to know that the alarm would be raised if fire broke out in the woman’s home.
She was grateful for their help and said she looks forward to seeing them again.
LOOKING FORWARD TO A NEW PATH
PARADE is a frequent user of Bradwardine Road, driving it daily and often taking her dog there for walks.
It has become such a beautiful area since the Living Legends trees were planted, but Parade has always wished there were footpaths on both sides of the road for everyone’s safety.
Recently, Bathurst Regional Council workers have been seen in the area constructing a footpath between Suttor and Larkin streets.
Over the weekend, Parade noticed trees on the median strip had been cut down and on Tuesday heavy machinery finished the removal.
She can only assume that the path will be continued across the median and hopefully down the other side behind the first row of trees.
If this is the case, she is confident the path will be used by a lot of Windradyne residents.
DRINK UP, FOLKS – IT’S GOOD FOR YOU
THOSE who love a good cup of coffee are in with some luck it seems.
Parade is big coffee lover and has drawn criticism from her loved ones before over how often she enjoys a quiet cuppa.
She has debated it, and now science is on her side.
A review of 11 international studies has found that people at risk of cardiac arrest might benefit from drinking up to six coffees a day.
The lead author of the review also said regular coffee drinkers are at a lower risk of heart failure.
Next time someone critcises her coffee habits, Parade will bring out that little piece of information.
