The two-day program is open to NSW junior sports academy riders and almost 30 kids have answered the call.
Home city riders Kalinda Robinson and Eliza Bennett are among the Western Region Academy of Sport contingent who are hoping to impress in familiar territory this weekend.
Bathurst’s Toireasa Gallagher and Marian Renshaw are part of an experienced coaching group taking the juniors through the camp.
"It gets all the kids from across the state together - our elite under 15s and 17s riders - it's good for them to rain together because we've got coaches coming in and activities that can help them further them with their cycling,” Gallagher said.
"It's not just about the stuff that happens on the bike. It's about mental preparation and even media skills. We give them those sorts of activities as well as riding."
Many of the group will have spotted each other on the race track before but the camp will give riders the chance to learn more about their competitors.
"A lot of the times they only see each other when they're racing next to each other,” she said.
"Taking that racing barrier away and making it a fun few days means they can get to know the rider as a person and not just another competitor.
"We have three road rides scheduled over the days and extra activities.
“We’ve run this camp a few times in the past and it works really well because it allows the state coaches to keep an eye on them and it keeps them in mind for state selection later in the year for the National Road Championships.
“Because they’re from all different academies they bring a coach along with them, and a couple of them are state selectors.”
Both Bathurst riders will be podium hunting this weekend against their fellow academy riders.
Robinson finished seventh in last year’s 15s hill climb and 10th in the criterium. Bennett was seventh in the 17s criterium.
