Mr Lamers was the proprietor of the former Bogas outlet at Kelso so he has some experience in the industry.
Back in his day, he said, the freight charge for getting fuel to Orange was a about three cents a litre more than Bathurst so it always concerned him that pump prices were sometimes higher here.
But a trip to Orange last week convinced him there is something wrong in Bathurst.
“I saw the 7-Eleven in Orange was selling fuel at 134.9 cents a litre so I topped up so I could get a receipt as proof,” he said.
“When I got back to Bathurst I topped up again at the 7-Eleven in Kelso and got another receipt. The price here was 149.9 – 15 cents a litre more and they are both company-run outlets.”
Mr Lamers says he has sought an explanation for the price discrepancy but has had no luck so far.
