The annual march and Commemoration Service drew hundreds of people into the Bathurst central business district to remember those who have served for Australia.
Guest speaker at the service was MacKillop College’s captain Daisy Pike who left the crowd speechless with her commemoration address that was wise beyond her years.
She shared her memories from her recent trip to the Western Front with her school.
The city’s dawn service, held at 4.30am at the Bathurst War Memorial Carillon, also attracted many to pay their respects.
The public are invited to a number of other memorial services today, including:
- 3.15pm – Cairn Service at the former WWII Army Camp site on Limekilns Road at Kelso
- 5.15pm – Sunset war graves service, Mitchell Highway adjoining Bathurst General Cemetery
- 6pm – Retreat and lowering of the Colours at the War Memorial Carillon.
